“The reality is, we have lost a generation because of the impact of covid-19 on education.”

Education and poverty are linked. Distance to school, lack of infrastructure, financial costs, child marriage, child labour and more can all keep children living in poverty from school. Without education, a child is less likely to be able to support themselves in the future and so the cycle of poverty continues.
Our Child Sponsorship Program cares for children holistically, including supporting their education.
However, in times of crisis, like during the COVID-19 pandemic, more is needed than what sponsorship alone can provide.
258 million school-aged children don’t attend school.
COVID-19-related school closures in 2020 were 3 times longer in developing countries.

By giving a tax-deductible donation today, you can help provide each child with what they need to continue their educational development such as vocational training, university education, supporting materials and new infrastructure, like libraries.
Our local church partners know each individual child’s strengths, struggles and dreams for the future.
They understand their specific education needs—and how meeting those needs can help them overcome poverty.

By giving to the Education and Training Fund, you will help create life-changing educational opportunities for all Compassion assisted children and young people. This support helps to release children from generational cycles of poverty and propel them towards their full God-given potential.
If you’d like to give to your sponsored child directly, you can give a child or family gift through your My Account, or by contacting our team on 1300 22 44 53 or at compassion@compassion.com.au.
Through the generosity of your regular sponsorship contributions, your sponsored child is receiving tailored holistic care including nutritious food, access to clean water, quality health care, emotional support and spiritual guidance through the local church alongside education and skills-based training.
The Education and Training fund provides additional tailored support in covering the costs of further education opportunities. This includes education fees, exam preparation, diploma programs, education equipment and tools, transportation, housing or food costs relevant and necessary for a youth’s educational program, as well as access to vocational and technical training programs, retreats, internships, job search training, sports camps, apprenticeships and skills development labs.
We recognise that education is an important part of helping break the cycle of poverty and has lasting benefits not just for a child's development and potential but also for future generations.
Poverty has a devastating impact on children: they lose their chance to learn and play and are instead exposed to exploitation and hopelessness.
Compassion exists to change this reality and release children from poverty in Jesus' name.
As part of a global network of more than 40 countries, Compassion Australia is a Christian child development charity with over 70 years' experience. By working with local partners who understand their communities' needs, our programs support over 2 million children living in poverty.
Through a child development centre run by a local church, children are given the opportunity to receive education, healthcare and the encouragement needed to be socially confident and, ultimately, economically self-supporting.
Poverty looks different from country to country and child to child, but Compassion's focus remains the same: supporting good health, good education and providing the opportunity for children to rise from poverty and reach their full God-given potential.
